Long before it was acceptable for women to do much of anything except be maids, prostitutes, wives, nurses, and moms, science fiction allowed people to ask that all important question "What if we allowed women to play strong roles and do things other than cook, clean, mother, and politely do what they are told". Truly, it isn't always perfect, and for every step forward sociologically, there is a skin-tight catsuit that takes things a step backward. These 12 questions are a tribute to those pioneering characters and actresses from science fiction, many of whom really expanded the number of different roles for women on film and TV.
