What's the wildest conspiracy theory you actually believe? Conspiracy theories are more mainstream than ever, entering national media, being entertained on opinion shows, and influencing elections. Personally I have little patience for anyone who seriously pursues them, but they certainly do draw one in. The question is, why? Are conspiracy theories elements of any one person's obsession with justice and truth, or (more likely) the symptoms of a reality too ugly to accept as systematic and normal? This quiz asks of popular conspiracy theories, as well as real events that inspired them.

One of the more humorous theories out there suggests that the entire city of Bielefeld, Germany, does not exist. After all, do you know anyone from there, or anyone who has been there? The internet joke spread widely, to the point that the city council launched a tourism campaign to great fanfare, announcing "Bielefeld exists!" The campaign only worsened the situation--why?
Journalist Sy Hersh alleged in 2015 that the U.S. Government's killing of Osama Bin Laden was false, and that the Pakistani government knew beforehand both about Bin Laden's location and the oncoming raid, and that his remains were disposed of by helicopter rather than at sea. His account drew heavy criticism and has not been confirmed. However, Hersh has exposed military malfeasance before--what infamous event is he known for having broken at the start of his career? More meme than serious belief, a recurrent conspiracy theory suggests that which Canuck pop star committed suicide years ago and has since been represented by a body double?
Conspiracy theories abound, especially by the conservative John Birch Society, that the Council of Foreign Relations (CFR) exists to collude with the U.S. government and eventually bring about a One World Government. Their fear may be misdirected--after all, the CFR is only the second most cited think tank in the United States, after what similar body, sitting eight blocks north in Washington on Massachussetts Avenue?
UFO sightings have become a huge part of our culture, spawning movies, books, and art--but never confirmed contact--since a U.S. Air Force balloon crashed in Roswell, NM, in 1947. Though Roswell-related theories have been debunked, it's harder to explain the 1908 Tunguska Event, when an explosion flattened about 770 sq.mi. of taiga. Plus or minus 1, what was the yield in megatons of this impact event?
A veritable poster child of conspiracy, the HAARP system is alleged by many to have caused weather events, earthquakes, and mass mind control. The facility has even been the subject of hearings in European parliament and the Alaskan legislature. In fact, the system exists to measure activity in which level of Earth's atmosphere?
American wars often begin with an incident related to a naval vessel--the explosion of the USS Maine, for example, which the Cuban government maintains was a false flag attack. Attacks on which ship were revealed to have been partially fabricated, leading up to the Vietnam War?
The belief that the U.S. government orchestrated the September 11, 2001 terror attacks is inescapable, and even the mainstream belief in some countries. All documentaries and arguments to that effect have been widely discredited, but this isn't to say the government has never attacked its own citizens. In which city did police forces drop two bombs in 1985, killing eleven people?
The later stages of the 2016 U.S. election were marked with internet investigations of a northwest D.C. pizza establishment, with various amateur sleuths and at least one gunman claiming its owner held children prisoner in the basement (despite its not having a basement). The restaurant is better known to locals for its pie, and as a place to take part in what recreational activity?
In the television show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Charlie Kelly, while working as an office mail carrier, stumbles onto something big: he shows his friend Mac that many of the employees (such as Pepe Silvia and Carol) to which he has been told to deliver mail to do not exist. Mac becomes upset at Charlie, at which point Charlie asks which mysterious man standing nearby to hand Mac a cigarette?
