When the Golden Globes got it right (and the Oscars didn't) by Egantx7

In a case of a murky year, the 2011 awards shows saw a very divided electorate. The Oscars saw a domination by The King's Speech, while the Globes countered that with Best Picture (Drama) and Best Screenplay awards to Aaron Sorkin for this film, which so far seems to have more of a historic and cultural resonance than Colin Firth's film is going to.

The king of getting screwed by the Oscars is Peter O'Toole. When it came to Lawrence of Arabia, O'Toole didn't win the competitive Globe, but at least won the award for Promising Newcomer that year. Which actor beat him for the award, playing Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird.
