THIS SONG, the at bat music for Atlanta Brave Chipper Jones during his career, is about the Cold War (a fact I just learned a few days ago). A Honda Pilot ad from a few years ago had a family play the song with, among other things, a cup full of ice.

THIS GERMAN SONG, WHOSE TITLE IS IN GERMAN, tells the story of the titular objects setting off a nuclear war, only to find out, after the fact, they were merely mistaken for UFOs and were shot down by pilots, triggering said war.

THIS SONG BY MEN AT WORK, tells the story of an accidental nuclear launch when, in the video, a officer accidentally stubs his cigar on the launch button. Colin Hay then suggests to send a flower and card with the song's title on it.

THIS SONG BY FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD has one version of a video that begins with a scene from Nixon's 1960 campaign ad on foreign policy. It then cuts to a wrestling match between Reagan and Chernenko. The more gruesome scenes from the match were edited out by MTV for airplay.

THIS SONG BY ELTON JOHN tells of his crush on the titular person, a border guard in a nation he cannot enter (played by Anya Major, who a year earlier made a splash in Apple's "1984" ad).

THIS REM SONG, their breakthrough hit from their debut album "Murmur," was heavily played during their early years in Athens. The lyrics have been called "complete babbling" by Michael Stipe except for the three word title, a Cold War operation whose counterpart replaced two of its words with "Liberty" and broadcasted directly to the USSR.

THIS SONG, off the 1986 album "The Dream of the Blue Turtles," begins with a ticking clock, mentions "Oppenheimer's deadly toy" and lets us know "there's no such thing as a winnable war."

The video for THIS SONG all had "cameos" by the Reagans, Mikhail Gorbachev, Leonid Brezhnev, Bob Hope, Helmut Kohl, and Pete Townshend (who pops up after the line "My Generation Will Put it Right"). By the end of the video, Reagan is drowning in his own sweat and having to use a snorkel to breathe.

THIS SONG BY RUSH talks about the fall of Communism. It talks about the counter revolution "buying up fantasy" and leaves the singer to lament on "All the crap we had to take/ Bombs and basement fallout shelters/ All our lives at stake." (As a sidenote, the band was worried the word "crap" would be somewhat offensive to some people...they are Canadian after all).

Not all Cold War songs were serious. THIS SONG by Weird Al, tells of the titular holiday and locale when "the button has been pressed." Recorded three days before Chernobyl, the singer promises to "duck and cover / With my Yuletide lover / Underneath the mistletoe."

THIS SONG tells of following "the Moskva down to Gorky Park" and celebrating the end of the Cold War (it was written after the failed coup against Gorbachev). It was voted the greatest song of the century by the German network ZDF.

THIS SONG FROM SURVIVOR begins "Two worlds collide, rival nations" and then shows scenes from Rocky IV interdispersed with the band performing song live during its video.
