In 1966, the Dallas Cowboys played their first Thanksgiving game (allegedly on an NFL guarantee that they would host them in perpetuity), drawing over 80,000 to the Cotton Bowl to see the Cowboys down this Eastern Conference foe who had lost to the Green Bay Packers in the NFL championship game the previous year.
