Questions on Turning Thirty-Three by KlionskyG

Question 2

P. I. Tchaikovsky never wrote a full cello concerto, but his Op. 33, a set of variations, features a solo cello playing with the orchestra. By what artistic adjective is the theme of these variations described? The melody does not actually come from the period in question but is rather, as befits its name, full of movement and highly ornamented.

The second half of the theme is played in this 1969 recording by Msistlav Rostropovich and the Berlin Philharmonic.
