Although his ties to Georgia Tech are based upon a year of graduate studies, this man was the first physician to be named Army Chief of Staff, serving in that role from 1910-1914. A U.S. army base named in his honor specializes in providing basic combat training as well as specialized schools for the Army Corps of Engineers, the Military Police Corps, and the Chemical Corps.
