What was the function of the building formerly associated with the fort that was controversially destroyed and replaced in July 2016 with a new large-scale artwork by Robert Irwin - the only permanent, freestanding structure conceived and designed by Irwin as a total work of art. The original building is shown in the attached picture but I don't know how much that'll help you!
