Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister was the member of two bands that played a major role in the history of musical umlauts. The first was a "space rock" band that wrote "YÖÜR ØÅPTÅIN IS DEA̋D" on the back cover of their 1971 album In Search of Space; the second was a pioneering speed metal band best known for "Bomber" and "Ace of Spades."
