The month (and by extension, the name of) April comes from the Latin "apiere" which means to do this, much like the question in this quiz.

The diamond is April's birthstone. The origin of birthstones is believed to date back to the breastplate of THIS BIBLICAL FIGURE which contained twelve gemstones representing the twelve tribes of Israel.
