Before Atlanta was Atlanta, it was Marthasville. Before it was Marthasville, it was named this, which shares its name with the location of a cannibalistic cult in "The Walking Dead (which is set and filmed in Atlanta)."

This man was the first elected African-American mayor of Atlanta. During his first two terms he began building the MARTA transit system and helped develop and redesign ATL International Airport, which now bears his name (alongside that of another mayor of Atlanta).

The "place" next to the World of Coca-Cola is named after this man, which makes sense because he developed the drink in his pharmacy in 1886. (And remember, every soft drink in Georgia is a coke, except Pepsi, which is battery acid).
