This bowl was held only three times in the 1940s in Houston. Named for a locally procured product, Georgia, Tulsa and GA Tech were the only Power Five Conference teams to attend.
This bowl game was held in Tampa from 1947-54 a few miles away from Ybor City, which was known for creating millions of its namesake items.
With the thawing relations between the US and Cuba, it is the hope of this author that this bowl will be resurrected. A lot of southern schools, including GA Teachers' College (soon to become GA Southern), played against local teams (including the Cuban Navy). Granted, given its name, it is doubtful the sponsor would remain the same.
This bowl was held in Anaheim, California, from 1984-94. It was the last bowl game Florida would play before Steve Spurrier's first season there (NCAA sanctions prevented his team from playing any bowl game in 1990). We aren't sure if tickets back then cost $1.05.
This bowl was held in Birmingham on New Year's Day from 1942-52 for HBCUs. It was named for the city's towering symbol of its steel and iron industry.
This bowl was played in the Rogers Centre from 2007-10, making it the first post season bowl game to be played outside the US since the [answer to Q3].
The Hula Bowl, a college all-star game held from 1947-2008, was at one time sponsored by this "delightfully tacky yet unrefined" company.
This bowl has the distinction of being the bowl to move the longest distance between host cities (2,678 miles) and the shortest distance between host sites (.2 mile up Occidental Ave). Its last two years had ACC schools playing Pac-10 schools.
This bowl was held in Richmond, VA, from 1949-82. The first and last game were played by the same two schools (VMI and Richmond) and the one school (now in the ACC) that benefited the most from its namesake product played in it three times.
FULL NAME OF BOWL NEEDED: This bowl was held from 2000-04 in San Jose, California, with sometimes exciting WAC-Pac 10. In its inaugural game, trailing 37-34 to Air Force with 14 seconds left, Fresno State faked a field goal, but holder Jason Simpson's pass to Giachino Chiaramonte fell incomplete in the end zone.
This bowl was held from 1978-81, with Tennessee and Wisconsin being the final match-up. It didn't help that teams played in freezing cold temps, which led to its demise (with another major post season football game not happening there for another 23 years).
The Refrigerator Bowl was held from 1948-56 in THIS INDIANA CITY once known as the "Refrigerator Capital of the World."
