This is the only U.S. Highway to start and end in the same state and also pass through any other state on the way. In fact, it passes through two others, in part following a river named for its endpoints state.

This U.S. Highway crosses the oldest bridge in use in the United States as Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia. It crosses the much longer Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel in Virginia.
