So the other night LarkinsK and I were playing Geeks Who Drink at our local venue. I'm on GWD's mailing list, so I get an email the night before with some information about the following day's quiz, and on this occasion, two of the rounds were named "Acker Bilk Approved This Round." Not recognizing the name, I looked him up on Wikipedia, and discovered that he was a British jazz clarinetist whose 1962 song, "Strangers on the Shore," was the first British act to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US. I therefore deduced that Round 2, the music round, would be about songs by British artists that also hit #1.
It was not.
But I did enough research to make a quiz out of it, so here you go.

This #1 hit by the band America (founded in London by sons of American servicemen stationed there) was produced by what man, who had previously produced many other #1 songs for another British band?
After Elton John's huge 1997 hit, "Candle in the Wind 1997," no Brit reached the #1 spot in the US for another 8 1/2 years. Name the one-hit-wonder who broke this dry spell in 2006, with the third single off his debut album, Back to Bedlam.
What year saw the most #1 hits by Brits (13), including Foreigner, Simple Minds, John Parr, Paul Young, and Dire Straits (none of whom are mentioned in a song originally by the band SR-71)?
What South African-British keyboardist had two #1 hits: once with a cover of a song by The Exciters, and again 13 years later (under a more well-grounded band name) with a cover of a song by Bruce Springsteen?
Phil Collins had numerous #1 hits, but name the side-project of his Genesis bandmate Mike Rutherford, who also reached the top with this 1989 song.
Name the out-of-this-world instrumental 1962 hit song whose (very) rough draft is sung here by producer Joe Meek.
Written for the film The Three Musketeers, "All For Love" featured a one-time collaboration between three artists-- two British and one Canadian. Name the two Brits.
Which song had the longest reign by a Brit at the top of the Billboard charts: 14 consecutive weeks in early 2015? Its artist is himself the stepson of another #1 artist (as the guitarist for a band).
The band Fine Young Cannibals is best-known for their #1 hit "She Drives Me Crazy," but name their other #1 hit, heard here.
Although technically only 60% British at the time, what was Fleetwood Mac's only #1 hit stateside?
After the breakup of The Beatles, George Harrison became the first, and eventually, the last Beatle to have a solo #1 hit in the US. Name both tunes, released 18 years apart.
Only one British artist had a #1 record in the US before the advent of the Billboard Hot 100. Name this singer, enormously popular during WWII, who just turned 100 this year, and hit the top of the pops with "Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart" in 1952.
