In feminist theory, the Bechdel Test is a three part test applied to films to see if female characters are written on par with their male counterparts. The idea is traced to a 1985 comic strip entitled "Dykes To Watch Out For", where one of the characters explains that she only sees films that meet three criteria: 1. The film must have at least two female characters. 2. The female characters must hold a conversation of some kind with each other. 3. At least one of the conversations between two female characters must not be about a man or men. (Some versions of the test require a fourth stipulation, that the female characters be named) In fact, some cinemas in Sweden allegedly now rate films based on the Bechdel Test ... but ... While a not-so-shockingly high number of films do not meet this relatively low criteria, there are a shocking number of films that do pass the Bechdel test but might not be seen as "female friendly films". Given the year and a description, identify the following films that pass the Bechdel test.

(2004) Maggie returns home to her mother, Earline, having won some money in her career, and offers her mother a chance to move out of her impoverished home. Earline declines on the basis that the money might mean she can't get future government benefits.
(1997) The title character meets with Sheronda and Melanie. The title character and Sheronda talk about Sheronda's name, while Melanie and the title character talk about the title character's suit. The title character sets up Odell who is killed by an ATF agent, allowing her to leave for Madrid with most of Odell's $500,000. (edited at 5:24 am, July 11, 2017 (CST))
(1986) Ellen and Rebecca hold a couple of conversations that don't mention men. One in particular begins with Ellen apologizing to Rebecca for the rescue plan failing. Rebecca notes that the hour is getting late, and that the title antagonists usually come out at night ... usually. Earlier, two other women discuss who the new woman on the team is. Ferro notes that she thinks she is a "consultant".
(2001) The self-righteously religious Kitty visits with Rose to discuss an upcoming dance competition their daughters will be involved in, and is upset about Rose's lack of commitment to the dance team when Rose hedges on chaperoning the trip. Rose eventually does fly with the team.
(1986) Katie is furious at her daughter, Jeanie ... Katie has likely blown the deal with the Vermont people in order to pick Jeanie up at the police station. Jeanie proceeds to get another speeding ticket after nearly hitting her brother and racing him home.
(2003) Beatrix and Vernita discuss how they will bring their disagreement to an end later that evening. After Vernita tries (unsuccessfully) to kill Beatrix, Beatrix apologizes to Vernita's daughter for killing her mother (albeit in self-defense).
(1975) Ellen and Mrs. Taft, a local motel owner, discuss Ellen's status as a true islander. Mrs. Taft explains that one must be born on the island to be considered an islander.
(1992) After Delilah Fitzgerald is disfigured, and the guilty parties are let off light by the law, Delilah's colleagues, led by Strawberry Alice meet to discuss this injustice, and to pool their money into a reward for anyone who can avenge Delilah.
(1996) After Tiffany announces that she is going to join a group in downtown LA to go watch something, Jasmine, who dances at the exotic dance club with her, tries to talk Tiffany out of going. Tiffany ends up dead, but Jasmine is able to escape the terror with her young son and the family dog. Jasmine later talks with the badly injured Marilyn who had barely survived a helicopter crash. Marilyn later dies at the airbase.
(1994) Jodi and Trudi have a discussion about piercings, particularly the benefits of tongue piercings.
(1988) Holly playfully chides her assistant, Ginny, to stop working and join everyone at the holiday party. Ginny promises that she will. Holly's estranged husband shows up to the party.
(1990) Karen and Rosie talk about where they are from. Later, Karen talks to Lois about using a baby to smuggle cocaine. Lois explains to Karen that last week's baby was Lois' sister's baby, but this baby is Dierdre's.
(2009) In this Tom Six directed film, Lindsay and Jenny, two tourists in Germany, spend time early in the film discussing different topics, including getting lost on the road (they don't talk much toward the end of the film). They then hook up, in a matter of speaking, with Japanese tourist Katsuro and eat ... and I can't believe I just wrote that!
