The Boss Fight series is the video games equivalent of 33 1/3; each book, written by a different author, covers a single game and its cultural impact. The first two "seasons" cover 12 different games. These 12 questions cover the books, the games, and things closely (or tangentially) related to either. Knowledge of the games isn't necessary, but general knowledge of video games will help.

EarthBound: A set of six promotional cards was released for the game with what unconventional physical property? The details of one card's property were left unidentified for a contest.
Chrono Trigger: The apocalyptic Day of Lavos is April 24, 1999. Had the world actually ended, we wouldn't have what still-running cartoon series, which premiered on May 1, 1999?
ZZT: The scripting language used to make ZZT worlds was called ZZT-OOP because it followed what programming paradigm?
Galaga: This book is split into 256 micro-chapters, some only a single paragraph. The last one, Stage 0, is only two words long. It consists of a phrase referring to an arcade game level that's impossible to play, thus ending the game (or book, in this case). What is that phrase?
Jagged Alliance 2: Author Darius Kazemi created more than 40 bots, including Glitch Logos, The Yearly Awards, and Two Headlines, on what service?
Super Mario Bros. 2: The "real" Super Mario Bros. 2 (released as The Lost Levels in the US), a harder version of Super Mario Bros., has how many total stages across its worlds? (I'm counting all worlds, from 1 to D.)
Bible Adventures: The book's cover - a stack of animals - is a reference to the first of Bible Adventures' games, an odd and barely-playable rendition of what Bible story?
Baldur's Gate II: The entire Baldur's Gate series, along with Neverwinter Nights, is set in what Advanced Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting? (I won't blame you if you can't remember it.)
Metal Gear Solid: As a gag, Ashly Burch spends a few of the book's footnotes naming "fancy" coffee drinks. The last one she names is what kind of coffee drink, the one most culturally associated with metropolitan elitism?
Shadow of the Colossus: The long-shadow-casting Colossus of Rhodes - not a boss in the game, sadly - was a depiction of what Greek titan-god?
Spelunky: Because of its level design and death mechanics, Spelunky is classified as what kind of video game, named after an early example of the style? Peers include ADOM and The Binding of Isaac.
World of Warcraft: What TV show produced an Emmy-winning episode based on (and partially in) World of Warcraft?
