It's just over a month until the run for roses, so here's a quiz about the U.S. Triple Crown...almost. Between Affirmed's Triple Crown win in 1978 and American Pharoah's in 2015, 12 horses (that's convenient) have started the Belmont, coming in as winners of both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, but failed to win the third leg. Given the winning horse of a particular Belmont, name the horse whose triple crown bid fell short in that same race. I'll give you the year in the answer, but you only need to name the horse. For those keeping score at home, I'll Have Another won both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness in 2012, but was scratched the day before the Belmont.
