Quiz Description

I wanted to do a quiz called I 69, but I wasn't sure whether it should be about the largely incomplete interstate or lies about my personal life. In the end, I decided to make half of it about the interstate and half of it a theme quiz involving the behavior known as soixante-neuf.

Despite the content, this ought to be safe for work -- no images, no explicit language, and minimal adult content.

Gershon Legman, in his magisterial Oragenitalism: Oral Techniques in Genital Excitation, traces the history of the euphemism soixante-neuf and mentions an older euphemism, "Congress of the Crow". This latter term dates back to at least the second century CE, where it appears in a mixture of prose and anstubh poetry. WHAT NAME is given to this treatise on the philosophy, theory, and practice of love, whose name can be translated as "Manual of Desire"?

KAMA SUTRA

The southernmost sector of I-69, from Victoria to Laredo, is one of the many portions that remains largely unbuilt. A proposal known as the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) called for building this leg as I-69W, plus spurs from Victoria to Brownsville (I-69E) and Pharr (I-69C), but was defeated. A major contribution to its defeat was Ron Paul's linking the TTC to WHAT CONSPIRACY THEORY, an alleged plan to subvert American sovereignty via a road as wide as several football fields?

Legman's work also mentions that the oldest surviving visual representation of the soixante-neuf may be an oil lamp from the Roman Empire. This lamp is preserved in the Deutsches Museum, the largest museum of science and technology in the world, which is primarily located on an island in the Isar River in WHAT THIRD-LARGEST CITY IN GERMANY?

I-69 has one signed auxiliary route, I-469. This highway's southern terminus is its junction with I-69 in rural Allen County, and it rejoins I-69 31 miles later on the north side of WHAT CITY? The city's only current professional sports team is the Komets of the ECHL, having lost their NBA franchise in 1957.

Rivaling in seniority the oil lamp in Question 4 is a sculpture showing a standing male dangling a female from his shoulders. This sculpture was brought to England in the late 18th century, where it was extensively discussed in Richard Payne Knight's A Discourse on the Worship of [BLANK]. WHAT GREEK DEITY fills in the blank in this title, a protector of livestock, fruit plants, gardens, and male genitalia? He gives his name to the medical term for an erection lasting more than four hours.

One of the longer built stretches of I-69 begins near Robinsonville, where it runs north along State Road 713, I-55, I-240, I-40, and US-51. WHAT CITY, served by all those roads except the first, is the northern terminus of this leg? Justin Timberlake was born in this city, whose other musical distinctions include Sun Studio and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music.

Legman also observed an analogy between the Congress of the Crow and the taijitu, the symbol known to westerners as the "yin and yang". Used for encoding, representing, and handling text in a wide variety of alphabets, the current version of the standard is 8.0.

I-69 intersects (and temporarily merges with) its opposite number, I-96, in WHAT CITY? The city was founded when people who purchased land in the fraudulent town of "Biddle City" elected to stay in the area, and became the state capital when concerns were raised that the previous state capital was militarily indefensible.

"Summer of '69", which probably relates to this quiz despite having no mentions of the interstate whatsoever, was the second-highest charting song in the US from Bryan Adams' Reckless album. WHAT POWER BALLAD, with the lyrics "And baby, you're all that I want / When you're lying here in my arms / I'm finding it hard to believe", was the only US #1 from the album?
