Opened on October 1, 1940, the Pennsylvania Turnpike still bills itself as "America's First Superhighway". Spanning the whole of Pennsylvania from its borders with Ohio and New Jersey, the Turnpike drastically sped up transportation from one end of the Commonwealth to the other. This quiz will test your knowledge about the turnpike itself as well as some of the places and things along the road.

What Interstate number does the Turnpike carry for most of its length, about 326 miles from the Ohio border to Valley Forge?
When first opened, the Turnpike traversed seven tunnels. Currently, four (Allegheny Mountain, Tuscarora Mountain, Kittatinny Mountain, and Blue Mountain) remain in use. Name any ONE of the three tunnels that have been bypassed since the Turnpike opened.
Beer lovers may frequently find themselves taking Exit 312 to Downingtown, perhaps to enjoy a fresh-brewed HopDevil IPA. What brewery calls Downingtown home?
Named after a Quaker inn constructed in 1719 (and not a great ruler), what census-designated place contains Exit 326 to Valley Forge, as well as a service plaza and prominent shopping mall with the same name?
New Baltimore in Somerset County is known for St. John the Baptist Church, the "Church of the Turnpike", which was separated from town when the highway was constructed. St John's was originally founded as a monastery by priests of what Roman Catholic religious order, named after the Israeli location where it was founded in the 12th Century?
Located just off the Turnpike at Exit 161 is one of the few gaps in the Interstate Highway System. Name the unincorporated town where this gap is located, which has been a popular resting spot for motorists since the Lincoln Highway was built in 1913.
Exit 110 is signed as being for Somerset, but also serves as a way to get to a city in nearby Cambria County. Name this city, which has suffered three devastating floods, one of which resulted in a relief tax on alcohol that (controversially) has been in place since shortly after the 1936 flood.
Before he would become "Broadway Joe" with the New York Jets, quarterback Joe Namath grew up in what Western Pennsylvania town, just down the road from Exit 13?
The Revolution (Exit 242) and the Barnstormers (Exit 266) both compete in baseball's independent Atlantic League, and contest the "War of the Roses" for lower Susquehanna supremacy. Give the names of BOTH cities where these teams are located.
Pittsburgh, served by Exits 39, 48, and 57, is home to WQED, the first community-sponsored station and fifth public television station in the US. Since 1988, it has been home to a filmmaker who has pioneered the "scrapbook documentary", often taking nostalgic looks at places and things around Pittsburgh. Who is this filmmaker, who also has had national PBS hits with "A Hot Dog Program" and "Sandwiches You Will Like"?
The first national convention of the Whig Party was held in Harrisburg (Exits 242 and 247) in 1839. What was the title of the campaign song written in support of the candidates the party nominated?
