Question 4

This defensive alignment was notable for being the first in football history to be regularly used with 8 men in the box, generally 6 men on the line with two in versatile linebacker roles. It was occasionally termed a "zone" defense, though this was because the linebacker-type players in the box were zone blitzers who could rush the offensive backfield or drop back into pass coverage. Identify this defensive scheme developed in 1984 by Bears' DC Budy Ryan, and named for the uniform number worn by strong safety Doug Plank.
