This lawyer and jurist won 29 of the 32 cases he argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, most notably the desegregation case Brown v. Board of Education in 1954. In 1965, LBJ appointed him as the 96th justice of the Supreme Court, the first African-American to hold that office.
