This Massachusetts lawyer controversially, but successfully, defended the soldiers accused in the Boston Massacre. Cousin of a man who might be best known today as a brewer, he, somewhat usually for the time, relied heavily on the advice of his wife Abigail. He spent much of the 1780s in Europe as a diplomat before returning to the United States to assume the positions for which he is most well-remembered today. (First and last name, please)
