Although he is today far better known for his exploits later in life, this man first attracted the attention of the public as a young officer in the British Army immediately before and during the French and Indian War. Some of the battles he was involved in were the Battle of Jumonville Glen, the Battle of the Monongahela, and the Battle of Fort Necessity (where he was captured by the French).
