This film is about the filming of a film with the same name. The fake film is to be based on a book about the Battle of Cowpens by history professor Michael Burgess, who is not only dealing with his mother (played by Lillian Gish) but a prima donna leading man (Michael Caine), a script writer (Bob Hoskins) trying to butcher his book, and a director (Saul Rubinek) who wants more violence and sex. In the end, Burgess leads a revolution of the local extras by blowing up the sets, and having the men strip down to make the climactic scene more violent and sexy. Identify this 1986 film which was written by, directed by, and starred Alan Alda.
