Grateful Dead by KaufmanK

Question 2

THE SAME THING: In the over 2000 shows performed by the Dead between 1965 and 1995, the most commonly played song (over 600 performances) was not one of the songs you'd be more likely to hear on the radio, but rather "Me and My Uncle", a quick Old West morality play of a song. The song had been written in a drunken stupor a few years prior to the Dead's picking it up in 1966, by which time the songwriter had achieved fame as the leader of another California group. WHO IS CREDITED with writing "Me and My Uncle," even if he claimed not to remember it?

John Phillips
