A chaplain to George III and bishop of Dromore, this linguist found a folio of handwritten Middle English ballads in a manor house; its pages were being used to start fires. From that folio, since named for him, he produced a book, Reliques of Ancient English Poetry. Later Child consulted the folio for his own collection of ballads. NAME THE BISHOP.
