From the word "satellite" or "companion" in German, this car, built by the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau, literally became famous overnight as thousands of them crossed the border into West Berlin on November 9, 1989. Known as a "spark plug with a roof," the car had a 2 stroke engine and a body made from recycled Soviet cotton waste molded into plastic. Today they are collectors' items due to their unique place in history (and use during U2's Zoo TV Tour).
