Twelve years before the Trailblazers helped Chicago by taking Sam Bowie in the first round of the NBA draft, the Blazers screwed up big time taking LaRue Martin out of Loyola-Chicago with their first round pick of the 1972 NBA draft. This allowed the Buffalo Braves to draft this Tar Heel. This guy would win a pair of NBA championships with the Lakers in 1982 and 85, and three more as a Heat assistant coach (after playing seven years in Italy). Identify this 1973 NBA Rookie of the Year who won three NBA scoring titles from 1974-76 (the Blazers also passed on Dr. J that year ... man have the Blazers screwed up drafts!!)
