In 1899, a convention held in WHAT CITY instituted led the world's major powers to sign the Convention for the Pacific Settlement of International Disputes? It was a near-total success, as almost all international disputes in the next half-century would be settled pacifically. The treaty also instituted the Permanent Court of Arbitration, which remains domiciled in the city, as do later international bodies like the ICC.
