The oldest gem in the Imperial State Crown of the United Kingdom is an octagonal cut sapphire in the center of the cross on top of the crown. This gem is claimed to have been in use at the coronation of this monarch. This man's funeral is depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry, and he is buried in Westminster Abbey which replaced the original Westminster Abbey which he ordered to be built.
