Three teams were relegated from the First Division in England the season before the formation of the Premier League, which meant that they were not part of the breakaway group in its inaugural season. One was just promoted back to the Football League in 2015 (the same year that their bitter rivals Watford was promoted to the Premier League, NBD). Another is the oldest professional football team in the world, but were relegated to League Two last year.
