The Indians were not, contrary to legend, named after Native American Lou Sockalexis. They were, however, briefly named for a legendary player/manager in their infield. Had the Indians' first baseman had a productive World Series in 2016 World Series, perhaps there would have been motivation to return to this name. Give EITHER the name by which the Cleveland franchise was known from approximately 1903 to 1914 or the FIRST and LAST name of the legendary SECOND BASEMAN who played for the team from 1902-14.
