He was born a bastard in the Caribbean. His mother succumbed to disease when he was young. He made his way to America and started a family, but his obsessive work would often keep them apart. His multiple talents made him a towering figure in his field, and his best-known work, original editions of which are prized museum pieces, remains a milestone achievement. He is interred beneath a monument at the Trinity Church cemetery, not far from the site of his upper Manhattan home. WHAT'S HIS NAME, man?
NOTE: There might be a red herring here, so make sure your answer fits the theme! (First letter of LAST name.)
