An ethnic group from the mountain borderlands of Laos, Vietnam, China and Thailand, these people are a sub group of the Miao, and speak a language related to Mien. Many members of this group fought in the Secret War in Laos the 1960s and 70s, backed by the CIA. After the war, many more left their homelands and became refugees in the USA, Australia and France.
