Chris Columbus sold the script to this film to Steven Spielberg along with the script to the later produced Goonies. Howie Madell provided one of the voices in this film. One character tells the story of her father breaking his neck and dying while trying to slide down the chimney in a Santa suit as how she learned there was no Santa, an overly dramatic story that was parodied in this film's sequel set in New York.
