From 1959-63 it was held in Philadelphia before jumping to Atlantic City for a year, and then settling in its current home. In 1982, this was the first bowl (other than the Rose) which Illinois ever played in, and in losing to Alabama, became the final victim of legendary coach Bear Bryant.
