Boys in the Sateré-Mawé tribe of Brazil are required to wear special gloves which have these insects sewn into them, stingers facing inward. Boys wear the glove for roughly ten minutes, and then have to do this some two dozen times to be accepted into the tribe as men. Identify these ants which are ranked as having the most painful sting on the Schmidt Pain Index, the pain described by Schmidt as "... like fire-walking over flaming charcoal with a 3-inch rusty nail in your heal".
