While Lionel Richie was nominated for "Miss Celie's Blues (Sister)" and Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin's "Separate Lives" from White Nights was also nominated, the Venn overlap of Lionel Richie song nominated from White Nights actually won the 1985 award. (Which is a curious thing, since it beat out "The Power of Love" as well.)
