One type of tabletop board wargame uses a map upon which is imposed a hexagonal grid. An important rule principle common to many of these games is commonly abbreviated "ZOC," and refers to the effect a game piece has on the six hexes adjacent to the hex it occupies; e.g. a game piece might have to end its movement when it moves into the ZOC of an enemy piece.
